Introduction

HPL decorative paper printing machinery refers to rotogravure press lines optimized for producing the printed face sheet used in High Pressure Laminate panels. HPL is one of the most demanding surface materials in the building and interiors industry — used on kitchen countertops, laboratory benches, hospital wall cladding, retail display fixtures, and exterior facade panels — and the decorative paper at its core must survive extreme pressing conditions while delivering accurate, consistent color.

The HPL pressing process subjects the decorative paper to temperatures above 150 °C and pressures exceeding 70 bar for 20–45 minutes per cycle. This means the printed inks must be thermally stable, the base paper must be dimensionally consistent enough to register perfectly under phenolic resin impregnation, and the color must remain accurate after resin cure changes the optical properties of the paper.
