A: A commercially convincing American walnut reproduction typically requires 8–10 colours: 2–3 opaque base colours establishing the mid-tone ground, 3–4 transparent glaze layers building depth and figure variation, 1–2 highlight colours for early-wood zones, and 1 dark detail colour for late-wood bands and knot features. The transparent glazing layers are the most technically demanding to print consistently and are where the quality difference between 6-color and 10-color production is most visible.

Q: How do you prevent a visible repeat seam in a veneer pattern?
A: Three strategies are used in combination: first, use the longest available cylinder repeat (950 mm on our press) so the repeat falls outside the visible panel dimension. A: Yes. The press does not distinguish between the two; any pattern that can be photographed or designed can be printed.
